The Life-Cycle Approach: Smart IT Asset Management
In an era of rising IT architectural complexity, IT asset management has been identified by groups such as Gartner Research as an absolutely crucial practice for businesses of all sizes.

What is The Life-Cycle Approach?
Best-practice IT asset management involves a full consideration of the complete life cycle of your business’s IT assets, a cycle that includes five distinct stages:

Planning
Procurement
Deployment
Maintenance
Disposal

A well considered life cycle approach to IT asset management can significantly reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of your organizations hardware, software and total information infrastructure. By treating IT asset management as an ongoing process, IT professionals can examine the lifespan for their equipment as suited to their needs and make plans and allowances for each distinctive stage.

Deployment, Auditing, Data erasure, Asset Recovery, and Disposal

At OEM Corporation we are up to date on the challenges facing institutions and companies in dealing with the IT assets being replaced.  The areas we excel in is the deployment of the system being replaced, installing the new equipment, and then managing the asset through date erasure and asset recovery or disposal.

Deployment

OEM has a dedicated team that assists in the deployment process by removing all systems from their working environment and transportation back to our facility.
If desired OEM can also install the systems purchased and handle profile and data migration. This allows your organization to out source this task and not tie up your employee’s valuable time allowing them to focus on your core business.

Data Erasure

The elimination of data is critical to ensure the security of your information. OEM Corporation utilizes world class recognized software that erases all information to standards as laid out by the Department of Defense (http://www.blancco.com/). This is the benchmark for data erasure requirements. Each unit wiped has a certificate of erasure electronically created verifying the information in that system has been deleted.

 Auditing

All product handled by OEM is audited down to the specific serial number and a report is created outlining condition and value. This allows any organization to track all equipment being replaced ensuring there is indemnification for the client and an information chain for their records.

Asset Recovery- Remarketing

Through our years of experience OEM has been able to ascertain whether there is value left in the equipment being replaced. As we are dedicated to ensuring that no product ends up in a landfills, it is much more responsible to exhaust every possibility that the product is reused and not recycled. In many cases there is value that is able to be obtained for the asset and your organization can get a return on that investment allowing for an overall reduction in the cost of IT procurement.

Disposal

OEM’s commitment to zero land fill objective will give you peace of mind that the equipment is being handled in an ethical and legally responsible manner.
All units that require recycling is tracked by serial number and a report generated showing all systems designated to be recycled. This is another tracking tool for your organization in following the management of the equipment.
